got the following problem: after trying to make ics work on my presario 5001, the computer isn't booting anymore. the monitor gets no signal and it sounds as if system is still in suspended mode every time i turn it on. hardrive is running with very low noise and soesn't sound as if the computer tries to boot at all.
Wow I had a very similar problem! I have a Compaq 2275 and after turning it on or rebooting, it would seem to "go to sleep" and not wake up. This is what I did and so far it seems to work for my Compaq - no guarantees though... : ) I first went to Power Management in the control panel and under Power Schemes, chose "Always On" and made all my choices "Never" for the check boxes. If you do this remember to hit Apply before you close out. I then went to msconfig (Start-Run-msconfig) and under Startup disabled LoadPowerProfile rundll32.exe. I just realized that if your Compaq is a laptop, it would not be a good idea to disable power settings (battery etc...) so be careful! Good luck! let me know if it worked. Sar
Oops I realized too late that you might not be able to boot up AT ALL and try my initial advice. I don't know what to tell you if you can't get Windows running whatsoever... again, good luck... Sar
