powering down

I newly reformatted my second computer . then went about the proces of reinstalling everything . Today I added a sound card and continued with updates . Then went to shut down and it won't shutdown it did yesterday . Any ideas?

I would think about everything that you added today. I would then pull everything that was added and put them back in one by one, trying to boot up and shut down after each one. Also make sure that you have all up to date drivers. Good Luck!!

98 se has shutdown problems. Some sound cards can cause it. Is it hanging on the 'windows is shutting down' screen?
The most common patch for that that sometimes works is 4756US8.exe. You can get it at microsoft's site among other places. Doing a google search will turn up a few other download sites.
