Gateway g6-333c, Win98, 3gig hdd, 32mb ram.
Plug it in and the fan starts to run. No need for on/off switch, it will not shut off computer. I think it got the hard drive and I'm hoping not the mobo. No Beeps or anything else, just the powersupply fan and the cooling fan.
Any suggestions?????

Disconnect all the drives and pull all the cards. If you still don't get a beep then you have a problem with something on the motherboard.

did you do anything prior to this?
I had a similar thing happen when I upgraded my CPU.
But in my case my Motherboard has a system check after doing such things.
It went thru a check the fans would come on and it has LED's on the motherboard the show any problems.

The solution in my case was to hit the hold down the power switch on the front of the case until the system shut down.
then just hit it again as normal to boot.

It would be nice if your problem was fixed that easily.
I'd check your motherboard manual.
do a little more research before getting to stressed.
or post what if anything was done before this ?
also you might try resettiing your cmos jumper.

calm heads will prevail.

Thanks for the responses, but none of these apply.
Nothing new was done to the board, no manual avalable at Gateway, and tried resetting cmos (did nothing).
As stated in original post, the computer powers itself up when you plug it in and the power supply/cooling fans turn on, but that is all that happens.
I talked to my friend, that owns it, and he is going to try trading it in at the Gateway Store near his daughter's house.
