Power button doesn't work

Hi again,

I have the above computer, just had the case off for problems with the cd rom. Now my power button doesn't work. The led lights work. when opening the case the buttons and light thing (for lack of a better word) is very loose and the button on the outside does not push the on button inside the cover. Please help.


PS. I AM NEVER LIFTING THE COVER ON THIS EVER!!!! I WILL TAKE IT TO SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THEIR DOING.


I purchased this IBM Netvista 6578-LAU for 25.00 runs perfect came with keyboard mouse which i will replace w/ optical some day and screen

Generally you'll have a pushbutton on the front panel to activate a power switch attached to the chassis. The power switch is connected with 2 wires to the motherboard.

In your case maybe you haven't got the cover all the way on so that when pushed, the button is not reaching the power switch. I think that's the most likely reason. Or maybe the motherboard wires got disconnected. It's also possible the button or switch were damaged when you opened the case.
