This message comes up before Netscape Communicator 4.7 loads the page:
"You have configured Netscape Communicator to use an external mail program, but since the POSTAL DLL can't be found, Netscape messanger will be used instead"
Why is this message coming up and what can I do to get rid of it?

Check out this guy's website: http://www.macgyver.org/software/nsoutlook.html and follow his directions for downloading NSOUTLOOK.DLL ... make sure you read his instructions completely. It got rid of my postal.dll probs.

I get the same msg when starting Netscape Navigator 4.08: "You have configured Netscape Communicator to use an external mail program, but since the POSTAL DLL can't be found, Netscape messanger will be used instead"
I'm using Eudora Pro 4.3, and I want to get rid of that msg... any suggestions?

I was able to get rid of the Netscape "POSTAL.DLL can't be found" error when using EUDORA 4.3 after reading the notes at http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/1947hq.html.

with netscape off find prefs.js (in the used profile)
right click.....edit....goto this line
user_pref("mail.use_altmail", false);
in your case false was true ... replace true with false ....save

Hi,
We use Notes R5 and edit the prefs.js file to
add nmailman.dll so our customers can use it as the external mail program. It works on almost every pc; however I have one case where the nmailman.dll has been copied to the Netscape program directory and the pref.js file has been edited to add the user_pref lines. When Netscape is launcehed it still says it cannot find the postal dll, Netscape and Notes have been completely removed and reinstalled still with no luck. I know how to get rid of the error, but cannot get the porgram to recognize Notes as the external mail program. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is not working? Could it be a registry setting somewhere?

I have Netscape 4.7 and Eudora Pro 5.0. I was having the Postal DLL message problem from Netscape and tried the solutions suggested above at:
http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/kb/1947hq.html
Their solutions didn't work.
I also tried editing Netscape's prefs.js as was described above which would provide temporary relief, but on a subsequent invocation of Eudora, the problem would come back.
Finally, in determining what was different on systems that worked and systems that generated the message I moved the Eudora installation from d: to c:. This solved the problem. I fixed the problem on a 2nd computer by moving Eudora from m: to c:.
I hope that this helps people that run across this annoying issue.

I had the postal.dll message when I use Eudora Pro 5.0 and uninstalled it. I think if I have this file the problem would be over but it maybe not. If you have a better ideal would you show me how to get rid off it.
