Hello all:
I am on a IBM Aptiva with Intel MMX, 233 mhz, windows 95 version v.00.950 B, using LT Win Modem and Crystal PnP Audio System CODEC
This is the problem:
When I boot-up my computer, once windows and everyhting else seems to have loaded I get an error window (gray box with red circle w/ X) No text, just the ok button. If I click on OK the window pops-up again. Despite this, everything seems to run okay except my dialer for getting on-line. If I reboot (sometimes it takes 3 or 4 times) the problem goes away. I recently uninstalled all my free isps, in favor of a pay service And fear I may have screwed something up.
I checked the bootlog and noticed the following things failed (i don't know if this is related):
CS4232C.EXE
SETVER.EXE
NDIS2UP.VXD
VSHARE.386
SDVXD
ATILCD.DLLthanks for any help.

Since the error is probably caused by something still loading but perhaps no longer needed, you need a good tool for controlling your startup programs. Win98 has msconfig (which can be copied to 95 btw). But for you the best choice is probably Startup Cop. See the homepage link above and try using it to selectively limit what is being run at startup unitl you find what is causing the error.

Also try www.xteq.com
that's one that I use it works great (especially the behind your back wizard)
Also another nice one is tweak UI http://www.tweakui.com/
...it can also be found on your Win98 cd

Thanks to both of you. I tried Start cop and found a program loading that was supposed to be deleted. So far it seems to have worked.
