Hi,
I have downloaded videos through torrents that just don't play, I'll get an error message, "cannot render file", etc,
Some have played though but about 90% will not.

I do have a DIVX player, and also the 'Media Player Classic' loaded with the K-lite codecs, both of those players will play any file, and all videos from google, ok,

I also have the software GSpot Codec which lets you play a video and then it tells you what codecs are missing, however, the videos from the torrents give the same ---> 'cannot render file' message, but it identifies the file as .ASF,

The file extensions are mostly .WMV, which ordinarily I can play. Another one I can't play is a .MPG, but I can easily play those extensions, from sources other than a torrent download.

So what's going on here??

Thanks for helping,

:)

Don't know if your problems are related to this, but I have read that both the RIAA & MPAA are placing bad files out into the wild in hopes of aggrevating folks like yourself. IMO torrent files aren't worth the risks you take. I wouldn't put it past the RIAA to place desructive files out there for DL.

They actually are worth the risk if you get the right file and in most cases people do,but if it's a wmv file and your win.med. player doesn't play it,it means the file is corrupt and you should delete it and try a different source or a different size file with same artist and song or what have you.
