Hi Everyone,
I have seen replies on playing and recording of dvd's using the cd/rom and cd/rw. Is it possible to play dvd's on cd equipment, and is the dvd player really necessary.
Thanking you in advance for your information,
charlie

Yes, absolutely. A DVD is a completly different medium than a CD, there is no possible way to play a DVD on a regular CD-ROM drive.

Remember a DVD is NOT AT ALL a CD, they just happen to be the same size.

I believe what you are refering to is the practice of copying a DVD to your computer and then burning it onto a CD-R using a CD-RW. Your computer must have a DVD drive, but you do not need a DVD-R. The main difference is that you are not burning a DVD, your making a VCD (Video CD). These VCD recordings can be played on most DVD players, but will not have the picture quality of the original DVD. You also must have a software program such as DVD Ripper Copy Pro ( www.dvd-ripper-copy-pro.com ). Hope this helps...
