Is there a way in win 98 to view pictures as thumbnails like you can in XP? For example in my pictures folder images are displayed as an icon and in xp they display as a thumbnail so you can view the pics without opening each one.

Thanks for the info. It works great. One more question on the subject. When ever I open a picture it opens internet explorer. Any ideas?

bluejay, In Windows 98 Internet Explorer is the default image viewer for .jpg, .jpeg, and .gif files. .bmp files are opened by MSPaint which is the default viewer. Which image viewer program do you use if not Internet Explorer and MSPaint.

We can help you fix this if you use a different image viewer.

If you want to change the default image viewer(s) follow the instructions under Method 1 at the link below.

If you have no other viewer the IrfanView freebie is well worth looking at. You can simply tick which file types you want it to handle.

I was used to xp where pics opened in windows picture and fax viewer I believe it was called. I liked it because you could go from one pic to the next by clicking an arrow. I didn't know IE was the image viewer. Learn something new every day.
