we have bought a pentium III PC but when I view the system information under system tools , it is registered as GenuineIntel Pentium(r) II Processor Intel MMX(TM) Technology.

When the system first starts to boot, see what it says there. I have a PIII coppermine and under system info it say geniunintel x86, so I wouldn't rely on that to much

Hello, Something's wrong. Your assembler might be cheating you. Though PII and PIII have common speeds they are not one. If it says PII then it is a PII. For further info, use tools like sandra and NU, from PCQ or CHIP CD's. mail for any help.

The problem is the version of Win98.. (I'm assuming 98).. I have a PIII which shows PII in sys info.. Windows 98 Second Edition and onwards shows the correct processor..
