Hello
I have a pentium II system that disconects from the web every time I try to run dos type programs some games.
Also when I try to play audio cd's.My sister is have the problem on her pentium II system.
I wondered if the sound card was couseing it our systems both have onboard sound cards or devises.
HHHEEEELLLLPPPP.

you have a resource problem.
check the irq and io settings for the sound card and modem in device manager . if they do not conflict , make sure any irq /io settings specified in the config.sys for the sound card is the same as within device manager

Remove modem from computer and Control Panel> Modems Properties
Modem install prep:
Goto Start> Settings> Control Panel> Add New Hardware then Next. Don't let Windows search, check No and Next> click Ports(Com&LPT) select Communication Port and Next. Write down the setting recommended. Com1=03F8-03FF, Com2=02F8-02FF, Com3=03E8-03EF & Com4=02E8-02EF. Click Next then Finish. DO NOT shutdown. Goto System> Device Manager tab> Ports. Select the port recommended and click Properties> Resource tab. Check for conflicts. If none reboot.
Install modem:
Goto My Computer> Control Panel> Modem and select Add. Check "don't detect my modem" and click Next, select "Have Disk". You should be able to select your modem's name and then click Next, select the Com port recomended.Modem fails to respond:
Goto Start> Settings> Control Panel> System> Device Manager tab> Modem> select your modem and Properties then Resource tab. Select Input/Output range and remove check from Automatic Settings then Change Settings. If that doesnot work check for IRQ conflicts Control Panel> System> Device Manager tab> View devices by Connection> Double click Computer.

To whom it may concern;
I know what I'm about to ask you has nothing to do with Pentium II System's. Well, I a way it does. You see I have a deseaes, that is killig me. At this stage of my illniss, I'm stuck in the bed. What I would like for some one to do, is help me get in contact with Intelcomputer-Pentium, to see if they well work with me to get a computer of my own. I have this one that I'm talking to you own, but it belongs to the state, and I can't modiey it to use the internet, the way I would like to. I found that it helps to keep my mind offmy pain while i'm useing the net. Again I'm sorry for going about this in this manner, but, I do not know how much time I have, it could be one month, to ten year's, but, I cant take that chance. If you well pass this on to the Pentiun peaple, I would be for ever greatfull. They can get in touch with me at blustr@flash.net. I have no money, my creidet is worse than bad, because of Doctor bill's, but if they would work with me, I well find a way to pay, one way or another. I thank you in advance, David Little Wolf Matlock, Rt.2 2499, Athens Texas,75751, blustr@fkash.net.
