I have two computers each with a lan 10M/s network cards. They both run rj45. Each computer can see itself in network neighrhood, but theu can't see each other. I have checked cable and thats fine. I only need TCP to work. Any suggestions?

i'm not an networking expert but first make sure that the cable has a crossover at one end (a straight cable won't work unless there's a hub). If you have the right cable then make sure sharing is enabled, both computers are in the same workgroup and then try resetting your shares. If this doesn't work read through the windows help about auto-ip addressing. If after all this you don't have both computers in the network neighborhood try configuring the ipx protocol. IPX tends to configure itself more easily than tcp. If you get IPX working then you know there are no hardware problems and can work more at the software config.

Try going to start .find then find computer ,this will at least tell you they are connected .if you dont see it the install
netbios for the network card .this will let the computers find .

ok, on windows directory, at DOS session, type del *.pwl, then restart (on both pc's), when a windows logon ask you for a password, type it, the one you want, this will initialize a windows networking session, and, of course, make sure that the workgroup is the same for both pc's, and the computer name, are not the same, this can be checked in the network properties on control panel/network, in the identification option.

Do you have "File and Printer Sharing" enabled? You need this to see the other PC on your network.
