I received a pdf file with photographs, where each photograph is one page of the file. How can I separate them, e.g. make a file, like a jpg, out of each page of the pdf file?

Strictly you have to purchase an Adobe .pdf editor program (your normal Adobe Acrobat freebie only allows "viewing").
Old Salt's suggestion is one way and will work fine if the page only has a picture on it. The other way is to download a Screen Capture program which gives you more control over what you capture off the screen.
If you go this way I would recommend MWSnap (free) because it was one of the few that didn't cause some problem with one or more of my various photo programs (wrong colors, errors, deterioration and so on). It does a fine job.
For large pictures you might have to open up to full screen size in order to capture the full pictures (there are no separare Windows for pics in pdf's).

A few days ago I upgraded my Adobe Reader to version 6 and then up to 6.0.3 due to not being able to view something in the older version 5.
Version 6.3 is slower to load but otherwise I like it on my Win98SE machine.
It comes with a built in "Snap shot" tool on the toolbar that works just fine to capture an image within the .pdf file. I just tried it for the first time. I pasted the copied image into MS Paint.
If you decide to take this route then be sure to get version 6 for Win98 as the default one (version 7) is for Win2K and XP. You do so by simply selecting the correct Platform.

Deselect downloading Adobe Yahoo! Toolbar unless you really want it.Then download the upgrades to version 6.0.3 by following the instructions on that same page.

There's a utility called 'cutepdf' that will allow you to selectively copy pages from a pdf file and save them a separate pdf file.
When you run the initial installation it will install as a cutepdf printer. Then you open a pdf file normally with acrobat and choose to print the file. Choose the cutepdf printer as the device to use. Then select the page(s) you want printed/saved. As soon as you click OK to print, a 'save as' box will open. Then you can save the page(s) as a separate pdf file.
If you google cutepdf you can probably find a download site.

Thank you for your responses. I first tried the Alt+PrtScrn method, but it did not seem to work. Then I downloaded the cutepdf utility and tried it but it did not work and gave me an error message. I then realized that I was working with Adobe 5.0, so I figured I better download the newer version as suggested by Brian. As I selected Win ME it downloaded Adobe 6.0.1. So I opened the pdf file with it and a small screen appeared, saying that to export and save pictures to use the Picture Task Button.
I clicked on it and another screen appeared, showing thumb prints of all the pictures in the pdf file, and it lets you either "Select All" or individual pictures. I clicked on Select All and chose a folder to put them in and clicked on export.
Then I opened the selected folder and to my great surprise there was an individual jpg file in it for each of the pictures, just what I was looking for; it sure made my day!

Nice one - it educated me too. I'm still on V4 and thought there was no need to move up as everything worked fine. Seems you've given a good reason for folk to do so.
Thx for popping back to let us know.
