I usually have no problem opening a pdf file but this afternoon I cannot. Just a tiny little box with an X appears in the top left corner of the screen. I've checked both the Security and Privacy settings and find no changes in levels. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

It's possible the file is corrupt. Have you been able to open this particular file successfully in the past?

Nothing lost trying an uninstall/reboot/new install of Acrobat Reader - it may have gliched somehow. They do recommend you uninstall the old version before loading a newer one.

Get the newest version of Acrobat Reader for windows. (version 6 i think) Uninstall the previous version, and install the new one. Open many different pdf files with it and see if it glitches on each one.
hope that works

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Yes, it is a pdf file I've opened and used before. However, I recently installed Adobe Reader 6.0 and this is the first pdf file I've tried to open with 6.0. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see if it works. Thanks again.

I uninstalled all of the Adobe Reader 6.01 and reinstalled and everything is working perfectly. Thanks very much for your common-sense advice.
