I have a Xircom Ethernet 56k modem/ lan card and I have the drivers for win 95 installed. but windows doesn't detect it as what I installed even with the drivers there. It detects it as a standard pcmcia modem. Also when I plug in the lan cord the lights don't turn on on the card or the modem.
If that does not help trythis link to uninstall it, and this one to re-install it.
Best Regards, Mesich

If your laptop has a built in network card, go to Control Panal, System, and disable the network card configuration in your current profile. Don't remove it just disable it, there is a check box to do this under properties of the item.
This can always be turned back on at a later time should you need it, but more often than not this resolves problems with PCMCIA cards.
