I'm having a major problem. I'm desperately looking for a Windows 98 PCI Ethernet Controller Driver for my IBM Aptiva E Series 284 computer. It's old and I'm trying to get a network going but I can't because in the Device Manager it shows "OTHER DEVICES" and below that it shows "PCI ETHERNET CONTROLLER" with a yellow ? and a yellow circle with a !. My ISP said I need to install the driver from the manufacturer but there's no manufacturer listed when I click "Properties" on it. Where can I get the driver?
You may be able to get some info by running Everest home edition. Taking the card out and examining it for model info may help also.
You should be able to find the correct drivers for this network device at the IBM site. If you can't find them the easy thing to do would be to simply buy and install a new network card. They are only about $10. To search for the IBM drivers you need more info than what you provided. There may be a part number for the computer that appears when the machine is first started.

Are you sure you have the correct drivers for the card and that you installed them properly? It's also possible there's another problem with it. Double click on it in device manager and it'll tell you what it thinks the problem is.
Did you try to enable the device.
