is there anyone out there who can help me configure this motherboard with AMD K6 266 MHZ PC100 M571 MOTHERBOARD .

I have the manual that came with the motherboard. I can work this motherboard with a intel 133mhz chip with no problem . But I am unable to work this with a AMD K6 266 .
I set the bus to 66, the volts to 2.2 & the
Multiplication x 4.0 as per the book . still does not work .

Until last weekend, I ran the PC CHIPS m571 with a K6 PR266 with few problems. There are a couple of points to keep in mind.. The board is manufactured in Asia for a number of resellers each of who modify a number of features. The "266" is really an overclocked 233 - PR stands for performance rating - NOT clock speed. Pull off the fan and heat sink and verify your particular case. There are a number of versions of the m571 - v3.2, v3.2a, v7 and some more recent additions. Each have their own peculiarities. Mine was an m571 v3.2a and was set to 66mhz x 4. I sold the board this week so can only tell you that the core voltage selector cap was set on the first set of pins - I do not think it was 2.2v. There are 2 good web sites to check out - do a search on "My M571 page" and "EYO Tech Forum" (an excellent aussie page. Both have many links to all the data you should need on all versions of the m571. Good luck.

I returned the 266 amd & got a 233 Intel chip
still has the same problem . All I get is a black screen . However I am able to work this #@*^%PC100 M571 motherboard with a Intel 133.
If anybody got this board to work with Intel 233, Please let me know .Thanks

I’m running two PCs, each with a M571: one with a 200Mhz and the other with a 233Mhz. It’s been a while, but I can’t remember doing anything different than what the manual suggested to get he desired Mhz.

I have a K6/233, I recently had it crash and I am trying to install the correct drivers. I installed the CMI8330 sound drivers and they work great. I don't know which Video drivers to install. My main board is M571. I tried SIS530 and it turns my screen blank when I try to set the display to 256 or 16high. Any suggestions?Please help me.

Lisa, You should be able to correct your problem if you use windows 95/98. Go to start up in dos and type in D:\VGA\SiS5598\VGA I'm running the same board a 571 with a 400 amd k-6 chip and it hums and I do not have any crash problems> This could be because I'm running windows 98 se. Because I can not get enough clock speed I'm accually running at three hundred Mgh instead of 400. My daughtert accually uses this computer for running games, From barbie riding club to Jumpstart 2nd grade to Leggo Friends and has had no problems I'm running 90 k of ram, one stick of 64 and one stick of 16, ( It's what I had hanging around). The machine does not crarh very easily. Also many of her games want different settings for video and I can change it with no problem.

I have an M748MR Slot 1 motherboard that works fine, but I cannot get my CD Writer to work (Creative/SoundBlaster). Can anyone tell me how I can update the BIOS on this board. I went to www.pcchips.com but had no success. Thank you for any help you might provide.

i need to install the second hard drive for more storage capacity but have got only one ide cable which connects as master to the cdrom drive and slave to the hdd and on the mb m571 ide1.do i need another cable to connect both hdd or the cdrom should have the separate cable?
who is the manufaacturer of the pc100 m571 systemboard for more details for upgrades.

I do have problems while trying to shutdown my win98 system,it never turns off the machine,but when it starts never execute scandisk ,no lost clusters in the HDD ,
ATX power supply.Can anybody help me?

I have a pc chips pc100 m571 board. and i want to upgrade it with the most
ram i can. right now i have 2 sticks of 32mb of dimm, and 2 sticks of 16mb
of simm. I checked the manual and it says i can have up to 2 sticks of 128
simm and 2 sticks of 64mb dimm (384). is that the absolute true? i was
plannin to buy 2 sticks of 128 dimm and 2 sticks of 128mb of simm (512).ok, i'll be waiting for the answer..

The biggest problem with the M571 all versions, and K6/2 processors is, it bombs out with win95, upgrade to win98 and your problems will, in 90% of the case disapear. Win95 cannot handle the speeds this processor works at.
