PC startup problem

When i turn my PC on, it starts and the HDD RED light comes on for about 7 seconds and the CD LED flashes but then it stopps and there is no display on the VDU but, there is still power to the pc because the green power LED is on and the fan on the Power supply and CPU is still working but no display and it dosent boot up.

memory /video card is either loose, or gone south. reseat the video card, memory for starters. if its onboard video, then you must install an add on video card. if its memory, try new memory

The HD and cdrom light appearing for a few seconds is a function of them being powered up. It's not an indication the computer is working OK but just not giving a video output. It could be a video problem but it could also be one of a hundred other things.
