memory /video card is either loose, or gone south.
reseat the video card, memory for starters. if its onboard video, then you must install an add on video card. if its memory, try new memory

The HD and cdrom light appearing for a few seconds is a function of them being powered up. It's not an indication the computer is working OK but just not giving a video output. It could be a video problem but it could also be one of a hundred other things.

When you power up do you get any beeps?
