Sorry to be asking so many questions. You guys are great, though.
When I restart, my PC hangs at the Windows splash screen. If I shut down...no problems. This is not intermittent...been going on for about a year. I've just become accustomed to using the reset button. It just reminded me to ask when I saw yankanuk's question.

may be trying to load something thats no longer there or retsore/updating changes, try booting in safe mode (f8), try sfc.exe for changes, do a quick scandisk of drive c:, try scanreg.exe, but no need to update, (maybe defrag.exe drives if not recently done, if so or ok, ignore)...check msconfig for startup items, also start>programs>startup items>like ms find fast- et cetera, and disable temporarly, check autoexec.bat and config.sys for any dos programs that may be running using sysedit, try also when booting pressing Esc when screen shows up to see what was last running, also may be try adaware scan and quick virus scan of main drive>system folder and registry, try drwatson.exe to check for errors, also dxdiag.exe for any errors (ingnore joystick). check all connections, check computer>system properties>divice manager, for any errors...:)

Hey Bofra. I went through all the steps above. The problem was my video driver of all things. (showed up in dxdiag). I updated it, and all seems to be working fine now.
Thanks so much.
