Try booting into safemode, RUN/ type sfc and replace any system files which come up. If this doesn't work try reinstalling 98se over itself by booting from os disc.

RacheC,

I try your 1st & 2nd method already but still cannot solve my problem :(

My new PC didn't install other software and programme, just install my OS and Microsoft Office XP only. They keep hanging every few minutes.

"I got a new PC."

Is this actually NEW, or new to you? ie; Refurbished/used.

"My new PC didn't install other software and programme, just install my OS and Microsoft Office XP only. They keep hanging every few minutes."

Do you mean it ~wouldn't~ install, or, ~you didn't~ install other software and programs? I'm not familiar with XP Office, just Office 2000. IS the XP Office designed to run on a 98SE machine?

"Is it my PC hardware problem such as processor, RAM, display card, drivers???"

You stated 256MB of ram, what is the processor and video card/model? (Model meaning if it's on-board video.)

If it is on-board, have you loaded the motherboard drivers for the video, chipsets, etc?

Dan Penny,

My PC totally is a new one. That is a clone PC. I buy a new mainbord, new RAM (256 DDR Ram), new Processor (Pentium 4 2.4Ghz). All i built-up with myself. MY video is not a on-board video. Is a PCI video card (S3).

After install Windows 98SE & loaded all drives (included chipset). I'm also install Microsoft Office XP Pro. It's work! I can use this office application into my machine.

Just Install Win98Se & Office XP, don't know why my PC keep hanging :(
