i've tried to install windows98 after formating my hard drive because of too much junk, but i can't install it again
my 5 start-up floppy's have all givin me the same problem

when i start my computer with the floppy in, after the message
"windows98 is starting"
nothing happens, screen goes blank and after 5 seconds the floppy drive read's from the floppy but again noting happens

i used my laptop's start disk and got the cd-rom drive to work
but after i type install on my cd-rom drive prompt i get the message

"please wait while setup initializes"
"setup is now going to perform a routine check on your system"
"to con... press ENTER. to quit setup, press ESC"

and after i hit enter to go ahead with the test my screen goes blank and nothing
happens. is there any thing that can be bad in my computer, like my memory
and is there any software i can use through dos to find out what the problem is
and if you can't help me can you tell me where to get help.

i've also tried "format c: /s"
but that didn't work saying
"insufficient memory to load system files"
"format terminated"

when i type fdisk and hit enter my screen goes blank and nothing happens.
and the 5 floppy's, 2 are from the problem computer and 3 are from my laptop that i'm using right now and they work fine on it. so do the other 2 from the bad computer.

I would suspect the memory, the cache or the CPU. Try replacing memory(borrow some), disable cache in the BIOS. You don't say what CPU, MB, or HD.
