I have a CD burner and I was looking for a way to password protect the access to the information on the disk. I was looking for something like Iomega does with their 100 meg zip disks...is this possible?

The only thing that I can think of is to put everything in a 'zip' file and password protect it.

NOTHING will stop a determined person from getting past whatever protection you try to put on a your CD.

Also, given enough time, ANY .zip password can be broken but this is still probably your best bet. Use lots of non alpha numeric characters in the password such as <*$"!+ etc. particularly at the beginning of it because most password crackers assume it to be alpha numeric and only start checking other characters when they've exhausted those.

I agree that given time a person is capable of finding a crack to almost anything, but here is what happened to me:

I took my whole folder with all the data on it from my website and 2 other websites I host on it and copied it onto a cd-rw disk.

A few days later I tried to retrieve the information and it told me time and time again that access was denied. I couldn't figure out what I did that now I couldn't get into my files. They were fine and accessible when I burned off the disk, but now no access.

I found out that in the properties the folder was marked "read only", and therefore I could not open it, copy it, delete, or send it. It just sat there.

Finally I tried putting it back into the cd-rw drive where I made the disk from. I was then able to change the properties to "archive" instead of "read only". Now if I put it in one of my other cd rom drives I can open it and access the data.

I don't know if this has to be done on the drive that it was made on, or just any old cd-rw drive, but this could be an option to protect your data, depending on the situation you are in.
Hope this helped some.

You can try auto-run but then everyone can go to explore the cd!

Try making all the files hidden, then the end-user will only be able to see the file if they enable show all files!
