Win 98, second version, two physical hard drives partitioned into four drives. I need to password protect one of the partitions (drive F )in order to keep my daughter from access of it. Can I do this with Win 98 or a utility? Any advice!! In Win 98 is it possible to select the files and or programs she has access to from any drive? Any help appreciated!! Have a happy day!

encrypt the diretories. with www.abisoft.com has a good freeware program your better off with encryption any day. I would hate to see you come into a problem like I did look down the post for two Ibm thinkpad 355cs post. as you can see passwording a hard drive is a dumb mistake because if ya don't know the password! you got a very complex paper weight!

As Wong said this question has been asked many times. If you really want to protect a drive (I assume that sensitive documents and such are located here) you should consider moving to either the Windows NT or Windows 2000 operating system.
They offer security which Windows 9x does not, you can completly deny access to a directory/file/drive/partiton, or you can password protect instead.
If you want to hide the partition in Windows 98, email me and I will give you information on how to achieve this using the policy editor, but bear in mind that the security is poor and if your daughter is above the age of 16 she may know the backdoors.

I tried the trial version of Sentry 98 for a while and it worked well. You can password protect directories, drives, set up multiple users, etc. You'll want to use the option that loads it immediately at boot time so that someone can't boot to DOS to by pass it.
