My printer prints the top half of the line, then the whole line, then the bottom half of the line. I have downloaded the Win95 drivers. Could this be a DIP switch setting? Or an emulation problem?

I also need a manual for a KX-P1180. In my case, I need to configure the printer to use very short pages (height of 3") which are pin fed continuously. Can anyone help?

If someone needs some specific instructions of the printer, I happen to have the manual for the KX-P1180. I don't have a scanner, but I would be happy to type out some instructions. Please e-mail. Although I have the printer, I go it for free and the person who gave it to me sez it didn't work. Now the person who gave me the computer is not computer literate so the printer may not be broken or it may very well be broken. I would like to test out the printer with my Win98 machine. Can anyone tell me if Win98 has the drivers? I didn't recieve diskettes or software with the printer. Thanks in advance.

I have a KX-P1180. If you are using it to print through Windows (9x/ME/2000):

(1) Yes, it's slow, and will stay that way. It's not printing text in the sense that the printer is using built-in fonts. It is actually printing graphics, and all dot-matrix printers I have ever seen print graphics in one direction and much slower than text (except maybe the Apple ImageWriter II, but that was a long time ago and the Macintosh was designed from square one to do WYSIWYG printing). If you go to a DOS prompt and get a directory listing and channel the output to the printer, it will print quite fast for a dot matrix printer and in both directions.

(2) Windows comes with a Panasonic KX-P1180 driver. Install the printer through the "Add New Printer" icon and under the "Panasonic" name brand you will find the 1180 listed.
