I had a Packard Bell 486 dx2 computer with Win 95 on it. I sold it but kept the Win 95 CD. I got a computer from an auction which was a 486 90 megahertz. The Packard Bell CD I kept said it would only function on the Packard Bell computer & would not function on any other brand. For an experiment, I installed it on the computer from the auction which was an Identity (an ibm clone) it worked great with no problems as of yet. It has been 3 weeks. I am wondering why it works because my friend tried to do the exact samething with a win95 cd she had from her older computer & it would not work on another machine. I think her cd came from an IBM aptiva & she was trying to install it on an older Compaq. I believe it was a Compaq Prolinea.
