I have a Compaq P100, 272 pin Intel CPU, with 1MB video on the motherboard, 80 MB RAM.
What CPU upgrade would give the most bang for the buck, and would an 8MB graphics card
(say, IO Magic)also be worth it? Since the PC is old, I don't want to put much into it.
Thnx

Your manual will tell you what cpu you can upgrade to. On the video card more memory is not much use unless you are running a lot of graphics

AMD processors are great performers and are priced very reasonable. In most tests, the AMD has outperformed Pentiums in the same class for less money. The question is: Can your motherboard take a processor upgrade? Chances are you may need to get a new motherboard to run what your thinking of. An 8meg video card will not help you much if you don't have the processor speed to run it. Check your system manual to see what it will run. Good luck
