Outlook won't show - Email Programs

when i click an email link, tons of blank IE windows pop up - I've tried resetting my web settings and all that, but Outlook Express isn't even listed under the "Email Programs" drop down list, nothing is there.
Anyone know what to do?
I don't really want to re install because i have tons a emails i don't want to lose

Open your Outlook Express by clicking the icon on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen. When it opens it will say OE is not your default email program, would you like it to be. Click yes, and it becomes the default email.
