Outlook mail format problem

(Using Win 98 & Outlook2000) When I click "Compose a new mail message" up pops the screen to enter the address, subject & then the body. Address & subject are seen just fine, but the second my cursor hit the body of the message and I start typing, I can't see the type--it shows that it's Ariel 10pt, and it's received in Ariel 10 pt and readable, but I have to highlight it & make it 20 points to read it, then change it back to 10 points or the receiver sees it in 20 points. I can't find where to change it so I can read it as I type. Any ideas?
