Let me say thank you to everybody who helps...in this world of greed I find it re-freshing that people sharpen their pc skills without charging $99/hr....

Anyhow......i was given a tip [ in here] to look in outlook express/tool/accounts highlight my default mail provider [prodigy] and choose properties and check my smtp server address, which by the way is the same as incoming mail, which it was in the correct order. I went to the port settings...pop is 110 and smtp is 25 by default. I am still having the problem. When I send mail it says failed......no mail server found...should I copy paste the whole error message in here to see???....Thanks alot

Well, I didn't see your earlier post. But I do believe that with prodigy the incoming mail server should read mail.prodigy.net and the smtp should be smtp.prodigy.net
I stand to be corrected if anyone else has different info...

good luck

Yep, If mail. is not working for outgoing, it will likely be smtp. I think I was there for the first post. If I forgot, call your ISP and clarify the settings with them if smtp. does not work. Some have others like Sympatico.

From your email address you must be using hotmail. If you are go to this site and look for an item at the bottom that says "report a bug" and ask them.

I looked at www.prodigy.net and their help page.
These are the settings they listed.

POP3 = pop.prodigy.net
SMTP = smtp.prodigy.net

News Server = news-byoa.prodigy.net

In Outlook Express click on tools/options and choose the mail account. Click on properties and go the the advanced tab. uncheck the box "this server requires a secure connection (SSL) and see if that fixes it. Assuming they are checked of course. Keep trying, one of us will figure it out.

The SSL is not checked the ISP and SMTP are set on the settings listed above and I still can't send anything can you help. Debbie

Outlook Express won't give me my e-mail. Prodigy says my mailbox is 80 percent full. I need to delete messages. How do I do that?
