Is there any way to change the subject line in an e-mail already in my inbox in Outlook Express 5.50? Often I'd like to do that to make it easier to find an individual e-mail from a given sender. Forwarding it to myself with the subject changed is no good because that changes the sender in my inbox. Thanks in advance.

I am using Outlook but I suspect it will work in OE also.

Open the message, highlight the subject matter and type whatever you like or just add to the end of it.
Go to File, Save.
Your changes will remain.

Bryco,
OE 6 won't let you edit a received email subject line the way you suggest.

You are saying "open" the email, not "open and reply" - correct? Until you click reply, can't change a thing.

You can also click "Forward", change the subject and email it to yourself. Or change the subject after you click forward and exit out, saving it to your draft folder. Then you can put it in any folder you wish.

That is really too bad because I use this feature in Outlook all of the time for the same reason that Bob wants to.

Bryco,
I agree - wish that someone could come up with a way. I've used Cheryl's suggestion,
but the tool bar is different on emails saved but not sent. You can only view an individual email, there is no option to click to view a PREVIOUS or NEXT email. You have to exit the saved one - then click the previous or next. Plus I always have the feeling that it is open to accidents because the entire email can be edited.

Back in Windows 3.11, each email was stored as a separate file - and editing it was as simple as a text editor. Now that they are part of a database, that option won't work.

Good question, Bob....hope someone comes up with an answer.
