I have been having a problem in Outlook Express trying to open forwarded messages .... they don't open. I tried changing the file associations but I think I made it worse. Now they try to open in Notepad but this doesn't always work very well!!

I tried changing the file associations to associate with Outlook Express (msimn.exe) but when I do that it doesn't do anything .... Does anyone know how I can fix this so that outlook express opens email attachments in the normal way (i.e. within outlook express itself?)

Thanks in advance

I'd do a repair on IE. Add/remove programs, click remove IE and select repair.

It's not a good idea to open forwarded attachments. That's the most common ways for viruses to travel.
In Outlook Express go to Tools/Options/Security and make sure that 'Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a vurus' is not selected.
To correct the association for files, Select the file, hold down the shift key, right click on it and select 'Open with'
Scroll down the list to find the application that you want to open it with
Notice the 'Always use this program ...' option
