This error won't let me send out email. I've tried everything. Can't seem to get help with msn anymore. Could anyone help me to fix this>

Well this error indicates that the smtp server (outgoing mail) is rejecting the recipients. In OE go to tools then accounts then properties. Click on the server tab. Look to make sure the address for your SMTP server is correct (usually in the form of smtp.your_isp's_name.com) Make sure your password is correct ( although I don't think it really matters for outgoing mail, and you didn't say you were having trouble recieving mail,,,,so forget the password part) Let us know if that did anything.

Okay folks, I'm stumped on this as well. This is what we get, paraphrasing of course.
recipient rejected by server.... server: "{fileserver name}" Protocol: 'smtp'
Server Response: '550 Relaying is prohibited'
Port: '25' Secure(SSL): No Server Error: '550' and you know the hex error number. My users account has been working for about 2 months with no problems and now has all of a sudden stopped on us and we have no idea what may have changed. For the record, both the pop3 and SMTP assigned servers are the same {fileservername}. We host our own email account. We did notice after running "netstat -an" at a dos prompt on the server that port 110 wasn't listening. We have since rectified this but are still unable to send any emails out using OE.
FYI(2): This user is running Windows ME. We are running NT Server 4.0 SP6.
HELP!!!

Hi,
this may be a silly observation so excuse me if it is, but this error is usually associated with outgoing mail servers set up to only allow connection from a certain ip range, to stop spam etc.
For example if i dial up with ISP x, even though i have an account with ISP y i wont be able to send a mail through their server as my ip doesnt correspond to the range set by isp y.
Now if you have rules like that on your mail server and your client has change ip/ip range then maybe thats causing the problems.
Hope it helps.
