I can't open attachments is there some kind of setting that prevents it I receive emails with attachments and when I try to click on them I can't I click on the paperclip thing and the attachment is like gray like its disabled or something and I can't figure out why it won't let me open them

What kind of attachment is it? if the extension, the last three letters of the filename after the period, is associated to a program which you do not have installed open attachment will not open the file. Is it .jpg or .pdf or .anything else?

Well I can open like gif and jpg in the email but anything else if its like a setup file for a game or something .exe or a fwd and it comes I think as like .eml or something it won't open for some reason

I would be very careful about trying to open .exe files that were sent to you even if you do know the person that sent it because that is how viruses are spread. Personally I NEVER open .exe files that were emailed to me. You probably should too, just to keep the spread of these things from doing what their authors intended them to do (a cautious internet user, is a safe user). If you have to have the .exe file, request it on disk.
Part Two - Sometimes attachments esp. FWDs are emails themselves, kind of like a box inside a box, inside of a box. so to help further simplfy the problem, instead of clicking the "paperclip" try double clicking the envelope to actually open the email and therefore show the attachment window, if the attachment is another envelope(.eml) double click that as well until you get down to actual file that is not .eml. double click the attachment or right click and "Save As" to take out of Outlook Express and save to somewhere on your Harddrive ie. "My Documents" If the Icon is generic, like the graphic on the Start Button, you probably do not have the software to open the file.
Part Three - There is a problem with not having the ability to open .exe files, but this problem is system wide not just emails. If this is the case, make a new Post "Can't open .exe files" & someone will be there. But I doubt this is the problem.
