Im having nothing but problems with my system, I can get on the internet, but only connect to about half of all URL's i try. I have windows 95 plus, with IE3. The error message is usually,"cannot connect to server", and even when i do connect, and change pages on a site, i always get an error message that varies, but usually begins with,"java script error.....",
there is no consensus as to what needs to be done, upgrade browser, browser and O.S., new computer, etc.. when i ask local professionals. Can i upgrade to windows 98 with 32mbram and 133 speed? will upgraded browser work, IE4 or 5? and WHERE DO I FIND THESE? how to install? etc......ad infinitum.kevin j

You definitely need a more modern browser. Windows 95 can run up to IE5.5, which should be suitable for almost anything.
It and nearly any other browser can be downloaded from Evolt - although it's a hefty file.
Yes, you could run 98, but with your specs 95 might be a better choice
Why don't they make computers that will do what we think we want them to do?

Holy KaToopy Batman! I didn't even know that there were that many browsers out there! Thanks for that site jboy. (This is one of the reasons I like rubbing shoulders with the Guru's here. Always learning.) ;>)

Try opera -
nice, neat, fastest, and you can do things with your mouse that you never thought possible.
Loads of things on it, like password manager, email, etc etcas you can tell , i just love the thing

Hey Dan Penny ; )
It truly is an amzing archive - I'm happy to pass it on, but I learned about it here @Computing.Net too
Sure, for most browsing I use a version of Opera myself, but with 95, installing a more recent version of IE has the effect of updating various DLLs etc and adds a few features. It's permitted to have more than one browser.

use the non java version of opera..its fast.
On a 133MHz machine, I'd stick to real basics only.
If your ram can be upped to 64MB then you will be able to pull off win98, but it wont be any speed monster...
Good Luck and Happy Computing,
