Opera 8.50

"Opera has removed the banners, found within our browser, and the licensing fee."

For anyone interested in a feature rich (and speedy) alternative to IE or FF, it's now become just a bit more attractive

I'm using Crazy browser on my computer at home. I like it because it makes tabs within itself making opening 10+ internet tabs at one time easy.

Kinda makes the free registration codes we got three weeks ago worthless, doesn't it?

It does take some of the sparkle from that gesture, sure.

'Tabbed browsing' has been an Opera standard since v6 (years ago)

Personally I prefer separate windows and using the taskbar over tabbed browsing.

I know your link (in your signature) says "don't click" but I did. Have you seen Windows RG?

thanks for the info jboy. I like opera's ability to change the number of simultaneous sessions without going into the registry like IE.

Oh yeah - it's Really Good fer shure ; )

I always liked the tabbed concept myself - I started using Opera way back when, on some pretty low end machines. I've since been won over by FF - that 'adblock' plugin is hard to live without.

Still, computing is about choices, I've got a few versions of Opera as well as IE55 and Netscape7xx - variety and all that.

Oh yes - Opera is highly configurable, from within the application itself

Just curious, does Opera support HTML emails from websites like Yahoo! or Hotmail?

Someone asked and since I don't use it, couldn't answer. 8>)

Compatibility is often problematic with alt-browsers, but v7 (and 8) are based on a different engine, and are far more compatible than previous versions.

There have been issues - details at the Wikipedia listing

Actually I was thinking the same thing at first, but then I realized that I still need the codes for my previous versions that are already installed. Fortunately the free codes work on more than just the 8.x series.

Hi jboy,

I was browsing the forum and happened to come across this post.

I too have downloaded and installed the new 'ad-free' Opera browser.

Having this along with FireFox gives me a few other options besides Internet Explorer.

Choice is always nice. Right now I am like you and lean towards FireFox more than the new ad-free Opera version. But then again I have been using FF longer than I have the Opera browser. Maybe after spending more time exploring Opera my thinking will change.

Have a great weekend!

Regards,

Phil

Hiya Phil

Sure - I used to use v6 extensively, but drifted from the fold in favour of FF... plus I'm running a much better machine these days.

Stumbled across this site recently:

30 Days to becoming an Opera8 Lover - plenty there

We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology

Hi jboy,

Thanks for the great link and as you said it has 'plenty' of information for new Opera users like myself.

I leave it to you to find and pass on these 'one-in-a million' information sites.

Thanks and regards,

Phil
