i'm using windows 98 with IE 5.5..when I am looking at a web page and want to go to another page but don't want to lose the one I'm looking at is there a way to open up that other page and still show the one I'm looking at?
When I'm looking at a page and want to go to another one say in my favorites and then I click on the one in my favorites, I then lose the one I was looking at. I hope I am making some sense.

There are a couple of ways, one way is to open a new browser, which will allow you to navigate on either open window. If you want to open a link in a new window, you can also hold down your "Shift" key while clicking it; this'll keep the former page. Hope this is of some use, tm.

I had the same or similar problem using IE5.01 and it turned out to be a proxy server. I didn't add such a server but some ad stopper programs will do so automatically. My problem was Pop-up Stopper. Check the following: Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections and see if the PROXY SERVER is checked. If you clear it and it works ok then you will have to find out what set it. Don

Do CTRL+N This will open a new window from which you can access favorites. Doing it this way instead of clicking on the IE icon to start another process, saves on System Resources and memory

You can also click on the file menu (top left corner) select new, then select window. A new copy of the window you are using will come up, open from favorites in the new window, and your previous page is still open. use taskbar icons to switch between page views. and it took 3 times as long to type this than to do it ;)
