Only 16 colors and no option!

Hi all: I need help please. n xp on this comp and the display was TrueColor 32 bits . After installing Win98 I can only change the monitor to 2 colors or 16 colors 400x640. I have tried all and nothing. Any ideas as why the computer would not do the ress change and show options to change video. Thanks! PS the comp is an e. machine 1700 and had win xp on it but I need to run a prg on win 98

take out the videocard and look what type it is and what manufacturer. Then look at the manufacturers website for the drivers (usually the link 'download' or 'drivers').
If the manufacturer or type is not on the card, look at the main chip and note down what is on it (the first line). Type this in google.com and let it search the web.
Now google will come up with some usefull links to websites that have the drivers for your videocard.
