Recently booted my system to and got the standard monitor (check cable) message. Checked, of course, and then figured the onboard VGA was bad on my gigabyte GA-7VKML mobo w/AMD processor. S/B plug and play to switch to AGP according to mfr., but after switch out to Ati RADEON 7000 32mb 4x (yes mobo compatible) I didn't even get to driver load...then back to check cable. No post screen, no way into BIOS to reset. Checked mobo website which says no need to manual disable. Ideas out there?

Thanx a zillion!

When you say no need to manual disable, did you check in your bios under features setup to disable the onboard video there. It is not a manual jumper setting. If it is listed, disable it, and see what happens.

Thanx! But I can't get to BIOS. I guess I didn't present the problem as clearly as I should, trying to keep it brief. I have a blank screen, no post, no BIOS, no nothing...just the monitor message to check the cable (to the CPU) for connection. It started with the onboard VGA. I put in an AGP card and didn't even make it to load drivers when the screen went blank. (I did get initial boot that time, but only that time) Seconds later I got the monitor message "check cable" again. Since then I have also tried a PCI card, gone back to the mobo VGA, and tried a second AGP. I even reset the bios (from the mobo jumper) and pulled all cards to see if I could at least get post and bios...no avail. Just the blank screen (or check cable between monitor and CPU.) On a lark, I even swapped monitors! Have I got a dead mobo/processor here?
