To turn on SoundSentry
open the Accessibility Properties dialog box.
Click the Sound tab.
Under SoundSentry, select the Use SoundSentry check box.

You can also open the Accessibility Properties dialog box by clicking Start, pointing to Settings, clicking Control Panel, and then double-clicking Accessibility Options.
To change settings for SounSentry, click Settings.

Go to Help in Windows Explorer and type SoundSentry for more info

Items included under Accessibilty are meant to be used as aids to computer users with impaired sense of vision or hearing. SoundSentry is meant for hearing impaired PC users to get a visual clue for Computer sounds.

I guess, the original question is about the Integrated Sound card not functioning and consequently no sounds being heard from the PC.

The problem with an extremely abbreviated help request without any back ground information to give a context, is that it often leaves the readers confused.

Make sure the on-board sound is enabled in cmos. Then go to device manager in system in control panel and see if any of the items there have a yellow ? or ! by them. Post back.
