My husband reinstalled Win95 and must have replaced oleaut32.dll with an older version. I've downloaded a more recent version, but when I try to copy it into the system folder I get an error message--Cannot create or replace oleaut32.dll: the specified file is being used by windows. How do I get around this.

You need to restart in MS-DOS mode. Once in DOS mode, the file will no longer be used and can be replaced.

Once in DOS mode type the following command (*=folder the file is in):

copy c:\*\oleaut32.dll c:\windows\system

when you download oleaut32.dll, copy it to a safe place, ie; a floppy disk or your desktop, or where ever.

then go into windows in safe mode and delete oleaut32.dll out of c:\windows\system.

then you reboot and copy the file from where ever you copied it to into c:\windows\system. this is not the quickest method, but it is effective.

Try loading the VB 6 files, it was in one of microsoft's articles.

When using Visual Basic 6 I sent my program to different peaple to test and on 1 or two machines i got an error masage saying that a newer vertion of oleaut32.dll is neaded.

please help me with my problem

Damn it....Why the hell won't antone tell us where the updated version of this file is? the above place did jack s---...just another search engine. I am getting pissed off, every new game I get needs this file. Just some one e-mail it to me if they find it please.

I've got an NT system with ntfs partition so I can't boot up in ms dos and delete the oleout32.dll file from the c:\ drive (ms dos cann't read the drive!) and I donn't know if I can starup in save mode to do this. Does someone know how I can update my oleout32.dll version?

the oleaut32.dll should come with its own
installer and require a reboot.
use the VBrun60.exe to also install it, found
in the links above, its there.
Simply copying the file may not work

My computer will not allow me to install napster,or yahoo messinger.
it keeps saying"napster.exe is linked to missing export oleaut32.dll:420.
Ive searched everywere to find out what the problem is.
Can you send me an e-mail and tell me what is going on?
I am just about ready to through my computer in the garbage.
Ive upgraded it so i could go on the internet
and i still can not use it.
Will you please reply regardless if you know the problem or not?
