follow up from last post.
I have just bought Office XP off a friend, It has already been activated/registered, but now deleted from their system.
Will I have problems re-activating it under my name ???

Are you installing it on your 98 OS system? I have it on my XP and 98. I registered them on both computers with no problems. There were a couple of items I found you must do. When you install it, you will be asked to install some missing components needed for it. Make sure you do not skip this step, and it installs the items correctly. Also make sure you set up Outlook immediately when requested. All the best!

All microsofts new "XP" series programs require activation, and may only be activated on one machine at a time (for office you can install a copy on a laptop as well for use when travelling.) This activation is an inconvenience. In order for you to Activate your secondhand software is to have your friend with you and call microsoft when it asks for activation. He will have to explain to microsoft that he sold the software and why. then he will be asked for a receipt number, where he bought the program, and where he lives (D.O.B may also be rewuired depending on how much info ms asked for when he first activated it).
then microsoft will ask you the some questions for their records. It is then for MS to decide, did he really sell it, or is he trying to install on 2 pc's. If you are lucky they will let you activate it. and away you go. If you aren't lucky MS will say no and the produt can NEVER be activated.
by the way, why did he sell? Each ms product can only be activated 8 times. if he has used 8 activations, you cannot activate this product. and you paid good money for a small set of coasters.

A little hint for those with Office XP. The only info you have to enter in the registration is the contry you are in.
Install it and try it out for yourself.
