Suddenly I can't update the MS fixes for Office nor access my office CD's.
When I try to update fixes from MS, it tells me either I have no administrative priviledges or Windows installer patches, .msp files from a previously applied update, are missing.
Any help would be appreciated.

"Please" don't take this the wrong way but can we assume it is a purchased version?

The only reason I mention this is because one of the Office Service Releases from MS prevents borrowed versions from running shortly afterwards.

I understand your question. Yes I purchased it with my computor 3 years ago.

I have been updating regularly. This time I when I do an update search in MS, it goes to 57% then looks into a:\ drive for something and gives me a error stating "cannot update"
Reasons listed say "Possible no Adminstrative Privileges" and "Possible previous update .MSP files are missing" and " You may have updated install program from 1.0 to 1.1"

The MSP files are in c:\windows \install.
I didnt just update the installer program. It was 2.0.

I dont know any about administrative privileges changing.

I do have a left over effect from a DIDer trojan. When I access the internet, it can only go thru Windows Explorer with a 2nd connection to Ping 127.0.0.1

Can this cause a loss of administrative privileges?
Could the system accessing A:\ drive be a search for the >MSP files and why would it
go there?

Any ideas would help
Thanks Foxhill1

Sorry but pretty well all of this is outside my personal experience and sadly nobody else has joined us (yet).

If there is some way you can get rid of the after affects of that trojan I suppose there is always a chance it could be causing your symptoms. Might be worth posting that aspect on the Security & Virus forum. Seems best to get it out of the way first, just in case.

Sorry I couldn't give any constructive help.

Good luck

Derek
