I have MS Office 2000 Small Business Edition installed on a computer. I would like to switch computers and need to reinstall it. I stil lhave the origianl CD but lost the cd key code. I think it's a 25 digit code. Is there a way to look up the key code on the computer while I still have it running?

it would be listed in the registry,
You can find out the CD-Key from the registry like this:1.Launch regedit by selecting Start/Run, typing regedit in the text box, and pressing return.
2.Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, scroll down to Software
3.Find the Microsoft listing, and look for the directory that contains the software you need to reinstall.
4.Double-click the ProductID listing, and select the middle two number strings. For example, in
53491-460-1656111-49145 select 460-1656111.
5.Press CTRL-C to copy the CD-Key to the clipboard; then paste it somewhere where you can reuse it.When using this technique, be very careful! You don't want to actually change any registry values or otherwise save a
version of the registry that's different than what you started with (or problems may occur with your applications or operating
system). (if this post says nokeys nokeys
copy paste the link below for more info)
the above key is an example from microsoft
and not a working key.

Call Microsoft at (888) 652-2342 or
(425) 635-7056
and re-register it with them and they'll give you a new install ID. I've done it at least once. The product ID is at: Open WORD and click HELP and click ABOUT MICROSOFT WORD

The info from "try" above I don't think is correct. The reg key for MS Office is a combination of letters and numbers (17 digits) with a 8 digit confirm letter/#.
I know mine and did as "try" suggested and
my reg key is not listed there,
the only info in regedit for ProductID is the product ID and that is not the reg key, but the product ID is in Word HELP > ABOUT as I mentioned earlier.

My office 2000 small business has 25 characters in the key code.
I tried to post the sequence just using N for numbers and L for letters but it didn't make it through the posting process.
I know a page where there are a ton of codes posted but no sense me posting it here as it will either never make it through or get pulled within 5 minutes. Can't blame the moderators. It's their job. And no one posts emails anymore so this is the best I can do. Hope it helps some.

SkyDude..."Try"'s method does work...
You just need to get the correct sequence of numbers...you will see several...AFter you paste to notepad or whatever...
Do NOT paste those numbers into registration box...you MUST enter the numbers manually or Office 2K will reject them...

Have same problem as skydude and no working solution has come up yet. I have old and new computers side by side. Anyone ?
