Hi computer people. I have to say this is the best site out here. My problem is that I randomly get an OE error in VXD VCACHE. It seems to have happened after I installed roadruner. It may be coincidence. Its really annoying now. I have upgrade the motherboard to an Asus P3B-F and I still have the problem.

check bus speed of cpu, motherboard and ram.
if motherboard supports 100mhz, cpu should be 100mhz also. example cpu 600mhz x 100mhz
motherboard 100mhz.

I receive the same error , usually upon shutdown. It happened right after I got roadrunner. I am running a piii overclocked to 649mhz from 550 on an Asus mb PC32000. When I reduce the overclocking from a bus speed of 118 ...closer to 100 it does lessen the error frequency. I have been running at this speed for 6 months prior to roadrunner with no problems..due to an alpha cooler...
Sorry I don't have a better resolution..but I am working on it..I will let you know if I come up with anything.
Mike

I also have a shutdown problem with the OE VxD Vcache 01 error. I am a system builder and have never seen this problem in 5 years. It all started when I installed the ASUS V 7700 deluxe GeForce 64 MB video card [retail box] on my ASUS P3V4X mobo with the VIA 133a chipset. On some, not all reboots and full shutdowns I must hit the reset button to unlock my system,[the Win 98 shutdown patch has been installed] I have done a clean install ofwin 98SE four times, all my drivers are current and I can’t solve the problem. I have not install NortonAnti-Virus or any drivers for printers, scanners or digital cameras. PCI slot 1 & 2 are open, a DiamondVoodoo II 12 MB card is installed @ PCI slot 3 and a Vortex SQ 7500 sound card is install @ PCI slot 5, my modem is an USR external. I have removed the Voodoo and sound card also the modem but still the problem is present. Ausu has no answer, but the card also locks up when you try to play high end games with AGP4X enabled via a tweake utility. My mobo is an ASUS P3V4X with the VIA 133a chipset I have a PIII 800 EB [retail box not over clocked] ASUS P3V4X mobo, 512 MB PC133, 60 GB Western Digital HardDrive [20 + 40] a 300 w power supply, three extra cooling fans and clean installs of Win 98 SE [hard drive formatted before each install] USR external modem and a Vortex SQ 7500 sound card and a Diamond Voodoo II 12MB card.It should be noted that Asus informs me that their video or any video card for that matter can be run a 4x enabled WITH A NON-Intel chipset motherboard. I was also stated by Asus support that there is not that much difference in 2X and 4X, so it should not matter to me if I just run at 2X. It was suggested by AUSU techs that I replace my motherboard and the board that they suggest that I use is not a slot 1 board. I have a slot 1 chip, so have been told that I must also replace my CPU with a flip chip to use the suggested Asus MOBO.

HELP PLEASE I want to play games with AGP 4 enabled and shut my system down by way of the shut down in the start menu.
