I am getting the following message when I try to connect to the net. Usually in the verify user name stage. I don't get it all the time either. Maybe 1 out of every 25 connect's. Then the blue screen will come up 1 to 5 times before I finally get connected. This is after I have shut down the system after each blue screen.
Message is: An exception OE has occured at 0028:C183BD37 in VxD PPPMAC(04)+000030B7. This was called from 0028:C1852E4F in VxD PPPMAC(04)+0001A1CF. If may be possible to continue normally (haha)
I get exact message everytime I get the blue screen during connecting to the internet with dial-up networking.
All help would be appreciated!!

The file called PPPMAC.VXD may be corrupted. (The term "PPPMAC" is used to establish a session during dial-up connectivity.) To correct the problem, you may need to uninstall/reinstall Dial Up Networking/Remote Access Sercice, and Dial up Adapter".
Here it goes:
Note: Need Windows CD
Phase I:
1.Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel.
2.On the window that appears, 2x click the Network icon.
3.Click on Configuration tab, and remove all the components that are installed, by selecting them and clicking on the Remove button. Click OK. When prompted to restart PC, click No.
4.Go back to Control Panel and 2x click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
5.Select the Windows Setup tab.
6.From the list, select Communications.
7.Uncheck the box next to Dial Up Networking
8.Click OK and exit the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.
9.Restart the computer.
Phase II:1.Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel, 2x click the System icon.
2.Select the Device Manager tab.
3.Click on the (+) next to Network Adapters.
4.If anything appears below Network Adapters, select it and Remove it.
5.Exit out of Device Manager by selecting: Close.
6.While still in Control Panel, 2x click the Add New Hardware icon, and click next.
7.Click: No and: Next when asked if Windows should search for new hardware.
8.When given the list of hardware, 2x click on: Network Adapter.
9.Select: Microsoft under the manufacturers list (on left).
10.Select: Dial Up Adapter under Model list (on right),
11.Click OK, and click Finish.
12.A prompt appears requesting the Windows CD. Insert CD and click OK.
13.After installing the necessary files, restart the computer.Phase III:
1.Start>Settings>Control Panel, 2x click Add/Remove Programs.
2.Select Windows Setup tab, and 2x click on Communications. Ensure the box next to Dial Up Networking is checked. If the box is not checked:
a.Check the box next to Dial Up Networking
b.Click OK and exit the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel
c.Insert Windows CD and click OK
3.Double click on the Network icon. The Dial Up Adapter should be on the list, as well as TCP/IP. If TCP/IP is not listed:
a.Click on the Add button
b.Select Protocols
c.Click on the Add button
d.Select Microsoft from the list of Manufacturers
e.Select TCP/IP from the list of Network Protocols
f.Click OK and exit the Network Control Panel
g.Insert Windows CD, and click OK
4.Restart the computer.
This process refreshes/reinstalls the Dial up Adapter (DUA) and Dial Up Network/Remote Access Service (DUN/RAS).Another possibility is that the modem driver is either not the proper driver or has gotten corrupted.
