Hi,

I've just plugged in my new 4 port mini-USB hub and installed the files as requested by Windows. However, now none of my USB devices are working at all. In Device Manager, I have two USB Root Hub entries with the exclamation marks in yellow circles next to them. Clicking on these tells me that "The NTKERN.VXD device loader(s) for this device could not load the device driver. (Code 2.)"

Now I've been searching on this site and others for the last hour and have tried re-installing the NTKERN.VXD file and reloading the drivers. It hasn't worked.

If you have any idea what I could now try to sort out this problem at all, then please reply to this post. Even if I can't use the hub, I don't care as long as I get my USB ports back!

Please help if you can.

Two easy choices, upgrade to 98SE, or buy a PCI 4 port card.

Harder choice is to sort out any IRQ conflicts, try to free up more IRQ's by disabling devices not used, this is done in BIOS, maybe you do not use Coom port 2 or ACPI etcetc

Well, my USB ports were working fine until I tried to install the hub. At the moment, I just want to get it back to how it was. I don't need the hub, but I do need my USB ports!

I've tried removing everything and re-installing the ports, but Windows is still trying to install the hub! I just want the original two USB ports to work again.

Problem solved!

For some reason, the versions of the files I was using was too new. I found some older versions on an old hard drive and used them. They work and I have my hub up and running!
