alright here it is-i have a tv tuner card i was watching in full screen mode, i clicked off it opened a file and the damn comp like shut down immediatly/or said "Its now safe to..."u know the rest i restarted it and it said "Problem initializing device NTKERN. Windows portection error, you must restart your computer" i did that at least 10 times and the same damn thing came up - and FYI i have formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows98 like 3 times already - so my computer has reoccuring problems - i just dont want to do it again....please h

Joe, NTKERN is a VXD file. Start your computer in Safe Mode so NTkern isn't used. When it is up go to run and type in SFC and click ok. Using the second option, this is down at the bottom, to replace ntkern.vxd and place your Win98 CDROM in the drive and browse to the Win98 folder on the CD. Tell it to go ahead and it will extract it and place it in the system folder. After that reboot and see if it comes up. If it does not go back to safe mode and run the System File Checker on your "c" drive to find any corrupted system files. Now if this fails e-mail me and tell me how you could have reformatted and not wiped windows. Bet you took the wrong option.
