I recently upgraded to MS Office 2000 from the previous version.
Since doing so, everytime I want to print something (no matter how large or small) Word produces the message:
"Not enough memory to Print".
There is only an "OK" button to press. The message only disappears after exactly 17 presses of it, at which stage the document prints.I am also now having the same problem with one of the kids games.
Excel is fine. Haven't checked Powerpoint yet.
PC is running Win98, with 128Mb RAM.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Dear Iain,
This sounds odd.
I cannot offer you any technical help, but perhaps it would help those who can to have some information re. the Printer itself.
What make is it please? I think my HP LaserJet 6L Blk/Wht Printer has 1Mb memory installed in it. When I bought it, there was an option of adding more memory but I was told that for printing out ordinary letters, documents in Word, etc. I would be O.K. as it was.
As a test, before printing have you tried closing one or two other programmes (I have about 10 other programmes, including lots of gadgets which I like loaded and available at any time) to see whether the system will allow your printing command to proceed without interference?
There are some settings in the Printer about spooling etc. I can't say that I understand what they mean, but someone else will.
You might also try "Sandra SiSoft" (available as a free trial or perhaps even freeware) and run a general check or tune-up. You get "Tips" there, - mind you be careful, you may not want to follow all the tips on everything.
Just a few thoughts and obviously this has got be sorted out soonest, hopefully by the other more experienced members on here.
Regards and good luck!
Victor.

Thanks for the comments.
Printer is an HP Colour Deskjet of some sort. Cannot find anything in the documentation that came with it to resolve the problem. I don't think there is a memory problem with the printer itself as even a 2 line Word document has the same problem. Printing out a complex spreadsheet doesn't seem to be a problem.
No other programs are normally running on the PC.
Will try out the freeware.
Cheers, Iain

Dear Iain,
That was a good message from "DW".
It seems to be to do with the HP Driver doesn't it.
By the way, on my machine there is a test page that prints out when you press on a button at the front of the 6L LaserJet Printer. I think that has most of the information on the machine, memory, etc.
Please let us know how you get on and hopefully solve the matter.
Regards,
Victor

This may or may not help.
I had the same error message with an epson under win98. I had heaps or ram (700mb) so had turned off the swap file. Turned the swap file back on and problem disappeared. My conclusion was that my problem was due to badly written drivers that insisted on using the swap file rather than ram.
warning: I have a little knowledge which I use dangerously.
