I finally got my copy of FFXI Online today, and it says that I don't have enough memory to install. It tells me to free some memory on the hard drive.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should delete to free up memory? Please help me so I can install ASAP :)

Either you or windows are confused. memory is the ram chips plugged into motherboard. disk space is on the hard drive. My guess is that you need more storage space on you hard disk. If so delete unnecessary files or programmes or games to recover space.
First, double click My Computer, right click hard drive (usually C:), left click Properties, On the bottom right click Disk Cleanup. ensure Temp Internet files is ticked, and any others where windows reports you could regain space. click ok, click yes to confirm.

It might be time to purchase a new hard drive.

Oh boy... well I need like 6 GB to install this game, and I have 2.76 GB of free space now... The thing is, I have no clue what's taking up so much space! I tried deleting Kazaa Media Player, but there's no uninstall option for it, so I did a search for all files of Kazaa, deleted them all, and it didn't free any space at all!

Is there any way of finding files that are taking up a lot of space? If I can't find them, can't I just do something to my hardrive to remove all files (I forget what this is called). If I do this, will all files be deleted (Internet Explorer etc)?

Deleting files will not free up space until you empty the recycle bin.
You are going to find it VERY tough freeing up over 3gb.

It's usually safe to clean your hard drive of all files with .bak and .tmp extensions. Just do start -> search -> files and folders, then type those extensions.

To clean the cache on Internet explorer, go to tools -> internet options, click on the general tab -> temporary internet files -> delete files (it should ask you if you want to delete all offline content, say yes). In the settings box, tell it to hold cached copies of stuff for only one day.

I forget how to do this in Netscape. I think if you click on the netscape folder (in program files on the c:\ drive), you should see users, then your screen name, then cache. Delete everything in that.

Then go to c:\ temp and delete everything in there.

If you have downloaded programs and you no longer need the setup executables, delete them.

It won't clear up three gig, but it will help some.
