Comment:

1.When I try to run defrag or scandisk from windows I get a "Not enough free memory to run this program..shut down other programs and try again"
2.When I shutdown the computer incorrectly the scandisk on startup works fine.
3.I have a listing(RIVA TNT software) showing my total memory as 64mb and my free memory as 20kb!
4.I have tried the FAQ at microsoft.com suggestions like editing autoexec and config.
5.Everything else seems to run great, but my HD is starting to get fragmented since I can't run defrag.
Help please.

If the problem is indeed the one mentioned in the knowledge base article above, it simply means that there has been a restriction put upon the user to not be able to access certain drives. Hence you can't run scandisk on them. It runs when you re-boot because you haven't log on yet, and the system policies are not yet in effect.

windows 95 and 98 has what they call a "Memory Leak" some apps dont know how to release their memory properly when they are done anbd windows does not know how to reallocate it. Thers a good little blurb on my site about it. Check out http://www.vflight.com
